One of the major achievements of Operation Countdown Limited is the Operation Countdown Mobile Display Unit. This is a unit equipped with thought provoking and informative displays on a variety of road safety issues.

From 1982 until 1990, Operation Countdown was an annual Police operation to highlight the importance of vehicle road-worthiness. On 1st July 1990 a program trust was established as trustee for Operation Countdown Limited. This company is limited by guarantee, does not have share capital and does not trade in its own right. The company was established as “an association of free enterprise and Victoria Police, dedicated to the maximisation of support for road safety awareness”.

Victoria Police, in accordance with the Victorian Government’s Road Safety Strategy ‘arrive alive’ aims to reduce the incidence, severity and cost to the community of road trauma. This strategy places great emphasis on participation from community groups and organisations, recognising that road trauma reduction is a shared responsibility.
